This study presents the development of a prototype program for the automatic generation of 3D models of cable Trays using part number information. The program interprets key parameters encoded in the part number—such as Tray type, shape, material, cross-sectional profile, width, length, angle, and bending radius—to construct accurate 3D geometries. The system supports multiple cable Tray types, including ladder, solid bottom, and perforated Trays. Section modeling is based on dimensional profiles, and extrusion or path-based modeling is applied depending on the Tray shape. The application was developed using C# with Eyeshot SDK for 3D modeling and DevExpress WPF for the user interface. Users can input a Tray’s part number and instantly view the generated model through the GUI. This system reduces repetitive modeling tasks, minimizes manual design errors, and increases efficiency in environments where standardized Trays are frequently reused. The proposed approach demonstrates value for small to midsized manufacturers seeking to streamline design workflows. Future research will extend the system with automatic dimensioning, 2D drawing generation, enhanced GUI functionality, and broader support for additional Tray types and configurations.
