This study proposes a methodology to automatically generate a digital twin model for integrated management of design, construction, and quality information by overcoming data disconnection and inefficiency in the construction phase of plant construction. In particular, unlike previous studies, we developed a new methodology to automatically generate a construction-oriented digital twin model by utilizing spool drawing (Welding Map) data as a core data source. To this end, we devised an integrated conformance matching algorithm based on geometry, property, and key, and implemented object reconstruction, real-time 3D visualization, and process-quality data linkage according to the CWP/IWP structure in accordance with the construction management system based on Advanced Work Packaging (AWP). By applying it to a demonstration project, it was confirmed that it is suitable for field application in terms of consistency, model weight reduction, and rendering performance. This study presents a practical methodology that can contribute to the improvement of productivity and quality control in plant construction through a new approach of automatic generation of digital twin models using spool drawings.
