The shipyard industry is a large-scale industrial ecosystem with vast spaces, numerous workers, and aging facilities. Compared to other industries, there are many factors that hinder safety, but safety management measures tend to lag behind. The purpose of this study is to propose and implement an advanced HSE management system by utilizing visual intelligence, IoT, and AR technologies to efficiently improve this. The system collects real-time environmental data from various sensors including temperature, humidity, wind speed, and oxygen/carbon dioxide flow meters using a hybrid network infrastructure that combines LoRa WAN and Wi-Fi HaLow technologies. The platform monitors workers’ PPE (personal protective equipment) wearing using five Visual Intelligence cameras. The control center has a monitoring server, AI server, NVR (network video recorder), and LoRa and Wi-Fi HaLow gateways for seamless data transmission. The collected data is visualized through an integrated dashboard, providing managers with intuitive access to safety management through the control center’s monitor and AR interface app. This comprehensive platform combines real-time environmental monitoring, AI-based safety compliance, and AR visualization to create a safer and more efficient work environment and reduce safety management costs. We hope that this initiative will serve as a cornerstone for future smart shipyard implementation.
